Principal's News

Dear Parents, Students and stakeholders,

I am proud to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year. My name is Jeremy Dirks and I was recently chosen to serve as your principal at Christopher High School. I am excited to lead a school with such a rich tradition of excellence. I have been a part of the Gilroy educational community for over fourteen years as a social science teacher, AVID teacher, activities director, coach and administrator.   I am proud of positive relationships I have been a part of during my time in education and am committed to setting clear expectations for the Christopher High School community. I am a product of the Gilroy Unified School District, and it is my life-long goal to provide the best educational experiences for my students as GUSD did for me.

I will work side by side with our teachers and staff  to continue the legacy of success established by Christopher High School through strengthening relationships with parents, staff, students, and our community partners. As a comprehensive high school, we will continue to focus on providing a rigorous and well-rounded education to prepare our students for their post-secondary options.

Our passion and commitment to students is demonstrated by the success of our alumni as they have attended some of our nation’s most prestigious universities, including Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Notre Dame, Cornell and nearly every CSU and UC campus.  In addition, some of our students serve our country in every branch of the military as well as being productive members of our community and skilled workforce through trades.

The Christopher High School learning environment is a key component in maintaining the success we have established at CHS.  We offer one of the most comprehensive extracurricular programs available, including a highly active associated student body, countless number of athletic and non-athletic extracurricular opportunities, and a host of on campus activities and organizations by which students can shape their future.  There is something for every student, and we greatly encourage all students to get involved in our rich and active school culture.

This is an exciting year of opportunity and growth for all of our students and stakeholders.  Our students and parents are an integral part of our community, and I encourage each of you to participate in the amazing curricular and extra-curricular experiences or parent clubs that our school offers.  Please access our website to find important dates, information regarding activities, and other helpful school information.  ( I look forward to meeting you during the school year and encourage you to reach out to me directly if I can be of service.

Best regards,

Jeremy Dirks
